Ames Public Art Commission

The Ames Public Art Commission is committed to creating a visual and aesthetic environment that incorporates art into the lives of all Ames citizens. Ames became the first city in Iowa to launch an ongoing municipal public art program when in 1990 the mayor and city council established the Public Art Commission. A unique partnership of city funding and private donations from individuals and businesses makes Ames a leader in the use of art to enhance public spaces.
